Facts, General & Interesting What Do Tonsil Stones Look Like Information:

Tonsilloliths, or tonsil stones, are small pieces of calcareous matter that form in the crevasses of the tonsils.

In some people small, hard, calcareous lumps, which are white in color, occur in the crevasses of the tonsils, also called tonsillar crypts. These lumps, known as tonsilloliths, or calculus of the tonsil, or tonsil stones, can range in size from tiny little bits to pea sized ones and they have a tendency of remaining lodged in the area of the tonsils for a period of time, until they are dislodged finally. They are usually accompanied by a foul smell emanating from the tonsils, and a person afflicted with tonsilloliths experiences a physical sensation of something being lodged in the rear part of the throat.

Tonsil stones form due to a buildup of dead skin cells along with other non-cellular and cellular debris that get washed down the rear part of the throat from the nasal cavities and sinuses and get lodged in the crypts of the tonsils. Those who are afflicted with postnasal drip usually have tonsil stones since there is a regular flow of sinus drainage and mucus via the tonsils.

Usual methods and practices for cleaning out tonsil stones:

One method is to use a stainless steel long handled spoon 7.5 inches. You would need to force the stone out from below. This technique works easier if the stone is older and harder. You could use tweezers to pluck the stone out. The usage of pulsating irrigation to clear out the crypts of gathered debris may also help (using an adjustable unit over a low pressure setting or a needleless Monoject syringe and avoid damaging tissue.) Alternately medicine droppers (especially one with a curved tip) are used to suck out the smaller stones. Using such a medicine dropper to first irrigate the area with saline which may help to bring the tonsil stone to the surface from which it can then be more easily sucked out with the dropper. To get relief from gagging people often consider using everyday objects, like toothpicks, as small tools rather than using a much larger finger. This isn't encouraged due to the danger of the short light-weight toothpick/object being released and breathed into the throat. Use extreme caution when trying any of the methods in the above list. The tonsils and throat are very delicate, and can be hurt or agitated very easily.

Tonsil Stones

Since I understand the things they are and just how cheap and straightforward it is to destroy Tonsil Stones, I almost feel ridiculous or like I've been duped. All this time, I figured I had some certain illness or something and paid out tons of money on doctor visits and prescription medications. Very little did I know up until just a month ago.....

I have been weighed down by these terrible tiny problems for years and up until a short time ago I had no clue what the heck they were. I've been to the doctor, encountered some down-right unpleasant sore throats, had painful ear aches, nasty breath that wouldn't vanish entirely and tried all kinds of things to get rid of them.

They'd come and go, appear and disappear at all the most awful times you could imagine of. My first visit to my doctor to actually ask him about them got me a vague answer about some sort of throat infection and a dose of antibiotics which didn't do away with squat! I swear I made 5 different visits and was placed on three different prescriptions none of which did a bit of good.

Bear in mind that I had NO IDEA exactly what it was. Finally he told me that the only method to make them go away was to have my tonsils taken out. Goodness!!

Then he informed me it was not advised for a person to have their tonsils taken out after they reach a particular age not to mention just how much it would cost. So did I do that? Heck no!

So I started digging them out, using all sorts of mouthwash, gargling 3 times per day and maybe a couple of days I wouldn't see them but, VOILA...they always returned. I've stuck so many different things in my mouth to try and dig those things out, It's actually not even funny! Well...actually yes it is funny.

Well, skip forward to the key part. How I found out what they were and how to eliminate them permanently in about 3 weeks. I actually found this little lady unintentionally, looked over her information, tried it and now I'm one Satisfied, Tonsil Stone free guy now! I'm not kidding when I say, the poo breath, throat aggravation, ear aches.....ALL GONE! ;-)
